Full Time and Part Time Coach Drivers

Coach Driver (Full time) based out of our Midsomer Norton Depot


Centurion Travel are looking to recruit a number of qualified Coach Drivers to support the business throughout the week/weekends covering various bookings which could be anything from 2 - 16 hours per day.

Responsible for: To drive Company vehicles to provide an efficient, reliable, quality service in accordance with safety legislation and Company procedures. To follow the tour/route instructions as per the work ticket / information or the directions of the hirer / courier. To ensure the safety of passengers, vehicles, employees and other road users.


Key Responsibilities:

  • To drive any Company vehicle in accordance with the legal requirements and Company procedures following duties allocated by the Operations Staff
  • To communicate with customers in a clear concise and polite manner and to ensure they are respected and made to feel welcome regardless of age, sex, race, colour or culture
  • To follow all legislative requirements concerning Drivers’ hours regulations, including the use of tachographs, if appropriate
  • To ensure that any vehicle is driven with due care and attention, ensuring the safety of the passengers and general public
  • To ensure the coach if necessary and to suit operational requirements is checked and cleaned at the end of each journey and also prior to undertaking any journey. This may if necessary involve washing the outside of the vehicle. Any faults are to be reported to the workshop at the end of each check in order that these can be rectified before the next journey.
  • To ensure that defensive driving is practiced throughout every journey, being aware of potential hazards and how to avoid them, complying with Company procedures when parking or handing over vehicles
  • To ensure the Driver and defect procedure is fully completed to ensure safety and road-worthy condition of the vehicle
  • To load customer luggage onto the coach in a safe and orderly manner using correct manual handling techniques and to ensure all loads are stored correctly and safely prior to moving the vehicle
  • To ensure customers with special needs are given every assistance and attention, and to be able to control difficult/challenging customers within legislative and Company procedures
  • To report any incident that involves injury, damage to any passenger, pedestrian or third-party property immediately, in line with Company procedures
  • To handle any emergency which may arise, including following procedures in the event of a vehicle fire
  • When working on various regular Contracts that all timetables are observed, as required by the Company’s commitment to the Traffic Commissioners and Customer, and to copy with external factors which may occur preventing the completion of planned journeys, and ensuring that problems with reliability are reported to the Company as soon as possible
  • To carry out duties safely in accordance with all Company and legal requirements, and be fully conversant with the duty of employees under the Health & Safety legislation
  • To ensure prompt and accurate completion of all appropriate reports
  • To promote the company generally and do everything possible to enhance the company’s image through appearance and behavior
  • To ensure they report for duty sober, in smart uniform and on time
  • At the end of a period of duty ensure the vehicle is refueled, the interior cleaned, seat belts clip in ready for use. If required was the exterior of the vehicle with the Walk Round Wash

Key Skills:

  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Enthusiastic, efficient, well-motivated and a positive attitude
  • Ability to organise and prioritise
  • Ability to work as part of a small team
  • Good road safety knowledge upon completion of in-house training
  • Understanding numeric data
  • Being courteous and professional
  • Category D (PSV) driving licence with maximum of 3 points. Valid CPC card.

Salary: £25,000.00-£34,000.00 per year
